What is Haelu?
Jewellery has the remarkable ability to transcend physical form, becoming more than just an adornment.
The name Haelu is derived from the Anglo Saxon term for health and wholeness. Inspired by the ancient tradition of curative rings, believed to possess healing qualities. The maker, faced with her own experience with chronic health issues, discovered the transformative power of adornment as a source for grounding and ritual.
Each piece becomes more than just a beautiful object, but a reminder of deeper significance, a life line that can represent renewal and resilience.
Haelu is dedicated to sustainable and ethical practices within the jewellery sphere. Prioritising use of recycled metals, lab grown gems, and reimagining existing pieces. Haelu pieces are designed in mind to be worn forever, passed through generations, carrying a meaning and story to each person who wears them.
Each piece is handmade and one off, while some pieces may be similar, we use the lost wax casting process as well as sand casting, meaning each piece is individually carved and cast, no two will be the same.
Each piece is crafted in Ōtautahi, New Zealand,
